Maintaining good oral hygiene through brushing and flossing your teeth is one of the most effective ways to prevent tooth decay and gum disease.

Regular Check Up/ Dental Examinations

At Edwardes Street Dental, we recommend you have a dental check up every six months, to ensure early detection and prevention of tooth decay, broken fillings and gum disease. Our dentists thoroughly examine your whole mouth- teeth, gums, tongue and soft tissue for any visible problems.

Digital X Rays

Majority of decay begins between teeth- we use modern digital X-rays to identify these areas and discuss techniques to arrest current decay and prevent further problems.

Scale and Cleaning, Polishing, Fluoride Treatment

Cleaning and polishing removes dental plaque and calculus (hardened plaque). A thick film of bacteria builds up on the gum and teeth, resulting in teeth staining, bleeding gums (gingivitis), and if left untreated, will lead to periodontal disease and bad breath.

We use a professional ultrasonic scaler to remove plaque and calculus from above and below the gum line, followed by a polish and optional concentrated fluoride applied to teeth to complete the treatment. To maintain the health of your teeth and gums, you should plan to have this procedure done every 6 months. Most importantly, it’s what you do at home that maintains and protects your teeth. Let our friendly dental team demonstrate to you a correct brushing and flossing technique so the health and cleanness of your teeth and gums are maintained.
