Digital X Rays
Majority of decay begins between teeth- we use modern digital X-rays to identify these areas and discuss techniques to arrest current decay and prevent further problems.
Scale and Cleaning, Polishing, Fluoride Treatment
Cleaning and polishing removes dental plaque and calculus (hardened plaque). A thick film of bacteria builds up on the gum and teeth, resulting in teeth staining, bleeding gums (gingivitis), and if left untreated, will lead to periodontal disease and bad breath.
White (composite) fillings, also known as resin bonding, are the most popular choice in restoring teeth with decay, small chips or large breaks. White Fillings can range from small to full tooth restorations.
Crowns (or caps) are full coverage restorations used to stabilise a weakened tooth. A broken, chipped and heavily filled tooth can be crowned to increase strength and durability. Bridges are multiple crowns, joined in one piece, to be used to replace missing tooth/teeth.
Dental Implant is an optimal choice of treatment as replacement of single missing tooth. A titanium screw is placed in the bone to which a tooth coloured crown is placed. It can restore chewing and provide full strength of a bite and yet feel and look natural like a tooth.
Root canal treatment, also known as endodontic treatment, is a series of appointments involving removal of the pulpal tissue to eliminate infection or inflammation, and dressing of the pulp chamber with dental materials.
Want to improve your smile?
We can help.
Every smile is beautiful. But some smiles stand out more than others, and some, despite their inherent beauty, might not be as beautiful.
Tooth Whitening
Also known as tooth bleaching, this is one of the easiest and quickest ways to enhance your smile by giving you brighter teeth.
White (composite) Fillings
Tooth decay can result in telling signs and can cause people to feel conscious about smiling without inhibition.
Veneers are used to enhance the aesthetics of front teeth. Made from porcelain or composite material that mimics the natural appearance of teeth, these custom made shells are bonded to the teeth with dental cement.
Crowns
Like veneers, crowns can be made of porcelain or composite material and can look just like real teeth. Crown or caps serve both a cosmetic as well as a functional purpose.

YOUNG CHILDREN AND FIRST DENTIST VISITS
The foundation for good dental health starts young. We recommend children visit the dentist as early as two years old or as soon as they get their baby teeth. Where possible, bring them along to a parent/guardian’s exam appointment to get them used to the sights and sounds of a dentist at work! Regular visits along with an adult will help the child alleviate the often unfounded fear of the dentist’s chair, and arrive at an understanding that dental visits are a normal part of growing up!
WE BULK BILL UNDER CHILD DENTAL BENEFITS SCHEDULE
A new scheme for children under 18yrs began in 2013. Eligible children will have access to $1,000 of dental treatment (covered by Medicare) over two calendar years. This scheme covers most general dental treatment, i.e., examination, clean, restoration, fissure sealing, extraction etc. Orthodontics and cosmetic dentistry are not covered. Dental check ups give your dentist the opportunity to check your mouth for any signs of oral health problems such as tooth decay, gum disease and oral cancer.
There are 2 parts to a regular dental visit – check-up, or examination and the Cleaning.
At the dental check up your dental professional will check for cavities. X-rays might be taken to detect cavities between your teeth. The examination will also include a check for plaque and tartar on your teeth.
Your teeth will also be cleaned at your visit. Brushing and flossing help clean the plaque from your teeth, but you can't remove tartar at home. During the cleaning, your dental professional will use special tools to remove tartar.
It’s important to understand that anytime a human is exposed to potential pain, there is a reaction of fear. The fear is a normal protective reaction. We all fear needles to some extent.
Our dentist’s primary objective is to understand the depth of the patient’s phobia by talking about it and listening to the patient and find solutions.
The dentist and the office team will also go to great lengths to make the patient as comfortable as possible in the office environment.
Yes, it’s safe to visit us at the clinic however, like most things during covid 19, there are certain changes we've had to make to ensure everybody’s safety.
Anybody experiencing Covid-19 symptoms is asked not to attend the clinic.
This includes fever, cough, loss of taste and/or smell, flu like symptoms, difficulty breathing or shortness of breath and fatigue.
We have been scheduling appointments in a manner that promotes social distancing and allows for adequate time for us to disinfect all areas of use in between patient’s appointments.
Everyone entering the office is expected to wear a face covering and will be asked to sanitise their hand immediately upon entry.
Our dentists and staff will be wearing all of the recommended PPE (personal protective equipment).
Our waiting room will no longer offer magazines, charging stations, children’s toys and so forth as they items are difficult to clean and disinfect.
While many things have changed, one thing has remained the same; Edwardes Street Dental’s commitment to your safety.
